Elon Musk announces $100 million prize in ’carbon capture’ tech contest

Elon Musk, Tesla and SpaceX boss and the world’s richest man, announced a $100 million prize for developing the ’best’ technology to capture carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Announcing this on Twitter, Musk said: ’Am donating $100M towards a prize for best carbon capture technology.’ He then followed it up with another tweet saying he would release the details next week.

I think someone already came up with the ideal solution already. Back a year or so, a group created room temperature solid hydrogen. Now to mass produce that. Ionize it. And it attracts carbon to make a hydrocarbon. That hydrocarbon could be utilized in any way we use oil, gas, coal. Fuel, plastics, pharmaceutical products, etc. If we just store it, we effectively reduce carbon in the environment.
