National Guardsmen forced to leave Capitol, take refuge in parking lot

Thousands of National Guardsmen were allowed back into the Capitol Thursday night, hours after Capitol Police officials ordered them to vacate the facilities. According to Politico, guardsmen were told they could no longer access areas of the Capitol Complex after tirelessly defending the nation’s capital. One unit of 5,000 soldiers was forced to take breaks in a nearby garage.

How a soldier rates a place to sleep: 1. Can anything shoot at me? 2. Will I stay dry? 3. Will anything bite or sting me? 4. Can I stay warm enough? 5. How hard is the surface? And if 1-4 are good to go, #5 doesn't matter. 🇺🇲
