GOP Rep. Andy Harris tried to take gun on House floor

A Maryland congressman was reportedly prevented from entering the House chamber on Thursday with a firearm. The firearm, GOP Rep. Andy Harris carried, set off the newly installed metal detectors. House members are allowed to carry firearms on Capitol grounds, but are barred from entering the floor while armed. Metal detectors were installed recently in wake of the Capitol riot.

Good thing they stopped him. That gun might have jumped out of its holster and shot everyone in the room.

Good for him. Provide all of congress with weapons so they can knock each other off. Let them fight it out for once instead of us serfs doing the fighting for them.

“Those fines are not yet in effect, as the House hasn’t adopted those rules, and a few members continue to not comply with the screenings. On Thursday, HuffPost saw Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), Rick Allen (R-Ga.) and Boebert all refuse to be wanded down after setting off the magnetometer.” The privledge these Reps enjoy is ridiculous. Who else in the real world can just sidestep a security screening if they simply don’t want to do it? Why are our lawmakers not held to the same standards we are? What is the point of a security check if you can simply refuse to be checked?

I find it quite odd that the representatives themselves are not allowed to exercise their second amendment rights on the floor that they are written for

The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall NOT be infringed. What is confusing about that statement? When the Government doesn't want the people to own and carry arms, they must be planning something for which they fear getting shot over.

Funny how when it happens to them they act quickly, but when it happened to kids, they start with 2nd amendment rights. Not to mention that they did all that in 30 days, while it took them to decide that are lives are worth $2,000 every 6 to 9 months. There are no full time jobs available, gig work is taking over, creating an even more scarcity of jobs, and yet the government has the balls to tell us that we don't deserve money from our own taxes, that were given to them to run the day to day, and even though most of their own money comes from large influential businesses and families, they cannot spare some to help us keep the economy running at a decent pace. Did any of them truly pay attention to ther economics class in college?

Your country is strange, you have a constitution but refuse to protect it.

Wow. It's almost as if the Capitol was just stormed and he wanted to protect himself. What a violent racist who hates children!

“HuffPost also heard Harris complain to some fellow members that he had asked his staff to remind him about the screenings and they hadn’t.” What a tool, blaming his staff for an issue he created. I’d hope a lawmaker at his level could hold himself accountable but apparently in his mind it was those who are subservient to him. What a leader.

I’m totally ready for “The Caning of Charles Sumner 2: Congressional Boogaloo”. Bring on the popcorn and geriatric bloodshed😂 Let them all have a gun to use to settle their ideological differences right there on the House floor

Its funny how republicans talk about law and order but when it comes to enforcing the rules they rail against them. The rules apply to both sides of the isle this is not a banana republic.

Did these gun people offer to use their firearms on the rioters to defend the capitol, or were they arming themselves in order to join them?

They should have the entire floor full of heavily armed senior citizens to ensure that law makers are paying attention to what they're doing. Anyone who attempt to introduce pork barrel legislation should immediately be removed from office by days senior citizens. Any legislator/senator attempting to put any but legal American citizens first should be dealt with it right. Are you beginning to get the idea? It's for the people, not for the Orwellians.

Some people cannot read the co institution it says "Shall not be infringed". They did not stutter when they wrote that they meant it exactly as it is written. Time for the American Royalists, the party of Davos, to be sent packing.
