An 18-month-old toddler fatally shot his cousin while playing with a loaded gun that he got hold of unattended at his Detroit home. The deceased is a 5-year-old boy. The bullet struck the boy’s neck. Police arrested the 27-year-old father of the boy and uncle of the toddler who was at home at the time. Calling the death ’completely avoidable’, police emphasized the importance of gun safety.
Gun safety? You mean basic common sense. Growing up, my dad kept his handgun locked in a briefcase. Nothing highly complex or cash intensive. However, the weapon was secure and no one got hurt.
This is where I differ from most on the left. If every citizen in the U.S. were taught how to properly use, maintain, and store a gun, tragic deaths like this would be extremely rare. Gun owners must be completely responsible in order to keep the people who wish to take guns away, at bay. While I don't see it ever being possible for guns to be taken away completely, giving the opposition's argument ammunition helps nothing, no pun intended.
Just today I read in book Frekonomics by Steven Levitt how pools are 100 times more likely to kill a child then guns. But you will never hear about pool killing child on the news.
Who the eff keeps their guns cocked and loaded? And on top of that, keeps it in that state and near their kids? So sad how much of a tard some parents are.
Responsible gun owners....
What kind of moron leaves a gun where a toddler can get it? Who was watching these babies. Prosecute the father immediately. And people wonder why some societies castrate their idiots.
That's bs,a toddler doesn't have the hand strength to fire a weapon
Typically day in Chicago sadly
LOCK UP YOUR GUNS

I certainly don't agree the death was "Unavoidable". Honestly, I think the parents are fully responsible here. You can have guns without leaving them where kids can get them, and if you can't, get a lock for the box. Train your kids in appropriate gun safety. My dad first took me shooting when I was about 8-9, after going over appropriate gun safety for a week or two, and that really lets a kid get a better idea of how dangerous it can be to use guns in a casual fashion. Playing with a gun should never be happening.
