Mega Millions jackpot swells to $1 billion due to long odds, slow sales

The jackpot for the Mega Millions lottery game has swelled to $1 billion ahead of Friday night’s drawing after more than four months without a winner. The lack of a winner has been attributed to bad luck, poor odds and reduced play partially blamed on the novel coronavirus pandemic plaguing the country. This is only the third time that a lottery jackpot has grown so large.
