Thousands of Russians rally to support Navalny

Thousands of Russians rallied in support of the jailed opposition leader Aleksei A. Navalny across 100 cities on Saturday, the biggest protests in the nation since 2017. It was a wave of anger that rolled through the country’s 11 time zones, starting at port cities on the Pacific and moving to the streets of Siberia. The biggest protests, which drew well over 10,000 people, were in Moscow.

They are also making themselves targets. Hopefully nothing bad happens to them because of that.

Imagine the US criticising someone else for police behaiviour during protests. Although the police intervetion in Russia is still an attack on the univesal rights of men, there was no tear gas, no rubber bullets, no pepper balls, no teasers, any of the "lets maximize the release of fluids from the body during a pandemic because we don't care about citizens" aproach of the us riot police. There was no taking people out of their cars and beating them up, no police cars driving into protesters, no shooting protesters in the head with tear gas canisters... Any way you look at it, the police intervetion in Russia was more humane than what the killer cops in the States are routinely doing.
