Sen. Patrick Leahy to preside over Trump’s impeachment trial

Democrat Sen. Patrick Leahy will preside over the upcoming impeachment trial of former President Trump. Typically, the chief justice presides over presidential impeachment trials, while the president pro tempore of the Senate historically presides over impeachment trials of non-presidents. The trial is scheduled for the week of Feb. 8.

Guess they couldn't get Mickey Mouse, so Leahy will fill in as presiding officer of the political LARP-trial. This whole thing is so ridiculous, seems like the Dem's (secretly) have to be embarrassed.

Lmao I remember this clöwn from Barret's confirmation hearing, he's a senior old tool who takes 10 minutes to string a 5 word sentence together, just to get promptly embarrassed by someone who actually knows the law.

Even Roberts is running away from this farce. That should tell democrats something. They see the iceberg, but put the pedal down anyway.

Good luck wasting more money you will NEVER get 17 republicans to vote for this charade. Maybe 5 Rino's at best.

If a Supreme Court justice doesn’t preside over the farce, did the farce indeed happen? The judge is supposed to be impartial and the good senator Leahy is many things but “impartial”isn’t any of them.

If the Congress can impeach a citizen, what's to stop them from going after you? Oh I'm crazy? Give it a year or two. All these "crazy" claims made in the last couple years are now coming true, and at all alarming rate!

So you going to have a Democratic senator as the judge this whole thing is a farce
