Chaos ensues as Indian farmers clash with police to protest new farm laws

A rally by tens of thousands of Indian farmers in the capital city of New Delhi turned violent Tuesday, as police used tear gas and batons to tackle the protesters as they broke through barricades. The clashes took place as farmers held a ’tractor rally’ to coincide with India’s Republic Day celebrations. Farmers are demanding the repeal of three farm laws passed by PM Modi’s government last year.
