The US saw a rise of 1.6% in the December 2020 sales of new homes, the Commerce Department reported Thursday. This comes after a big drop in November, which turned out to be worse than what was previously thought. The rise comes amid low mortgage rates currently prevalent, which traditionally push prospective buyers to buy homes. However, lack of units is driving home prices up.
