Homeless activists occupy hotel in apparent takeover attempt

At least seven arrests were made Sunday after homeless activists occupied the lobby and 17 rooms at the Red Lion Hotel in Olympia, Washington. The activists, belonging to the Oly Housing Now group, occupied the hotel in an apparent takeover attempt to demand pandemic housing. The activists were reportedly armed with hatchets and knives. At least one employee was allegedly assaulted.

Hotels are private property and businesses that the government is not allowed to force or coerce into taking on customers. If the government wants to negotiate a contract with the business to rent out a specific number of rooms for a fair price and then make those rooms available to people in need, then that is fine.
