Myanmar’s military junta blocks Facebook as civil disobedience grows

Myanmar’s new military regime has blocked Facebook amid surging calls for civil disobedience to protest the ousting of the elected government and its leader Aung San Suu Kyi. Mobile service provider Telenor Myanmar, which is part of Norway’s Telenor Group, said it would comply with the regime’s order to block Facebook. However, it acknowledged that the order could be a breach of human rights.

Cant have the rabble talking about an actual coup d'etat now can we? Nope, only talk about the fake one in America. I know this isnt facebooks choice, just pointing out what a real coup looks like.

I'm confused. Is blocking Farcebook a good thing, or a bad thing for the people. I mean, on one hand, you have an evil, repressive organization, and on the other, you have the military. Who's the good guy.

Blocking Gab and Parler is expected but blocking Facebook is a "breach of human rights." Yeah okay.

Social networks are a tool of intelligence agencies. (See "The Social Dilemma") In this case, the junta is shutting Facebook down because it's a tool of their opponents... Like Parler is here in the USA.

We should have a social media platform specifically for people who hate the government.
