’Chucky’ doll featured in errant Amber Alert

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has apologized after issuing an Amber Alert last week featuring the famed killer doll, Chucky. ’This was actually a test we were running on a dev server and it accidentally went out,’ an official with the DPS said while issuing the apology. One message sent out described the suspect, Chucky, as having ’wielding a huge kitchen knife.’

Sometimes we need nonsense like this to look back and laugh at. It's not a laughing matter now, but if will be in a couple months.

Suddenly I feel even more justified in disabling the Amber Alert functioning on every mobile device I touch.

Is that what Chucky looks like in the reboot? That's awful. Reminds me of a YouTube's avatar, Prince of Queens (RIP)

That's about the level of competence I expect from Texas. They make good roads and great barbecue. That's about it.

Had I received this alert I would have enjoyed it and tried to keep the notification saved. This is what I want more of.

Pretty standard behavior; use a value that can in no way be confused for an actual entry for database testing. I use the BFG-9000 for inventory testing myself.

Watch out Bernie, your memes are now obsolete. Chucky rules the web! This would have been a better test is allowed to run for 24 hours in order to see if the phone systems could hold up

This is good news because it means they actually have a dev environment. That's better than I expected from government IT
