House votes to fine lawmakers if they refuse to walk through metal detectors

The US House of Representatives voted to fine lawmakers who refuse to walk through metal detectors installed outside the House chamber. This follows the January 6 storming of the Capitol, in which 5 people were killed. A resolution detailing the fines was approved by a 216–210 vote Now, members who fail to comply would be fined $5,000 for the first offense and $10,000 fine for subsequent offenses.
