Half of Americans want Senate to convict Trump, show polls

According to two new national polls, half of Americans want the Senate to convict former President Trump in next week’s impeachment trial. Half of all Americans want Trump convicted in the Senate trial, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released on Thursday. A Marist national poll released earlier in the week showed similar results. Both polls spotlight a massive partisan divide.

It’s unintelligent to only accept polls that are in line with your personal opinions. Accept all or none.

The real question I’m dying to hear pollsters ask is: “Do you believe that the democratic system has failed in the US?” Another commenter pointed out that there’s been a noticeable decrease in pro-Trump comments on here, and I agree. And I think it’s likely that millions of Trump supporters and Republicans watched SCOTUS reject the Texas case on procedural grounds. Rightly or wrongly they are now convinced that the system is rigged to the point of being unsalvagable, and they’ve given up on the political process entirely.

Yeah, yeah, move on already, salty commies. Want to impeach a guy for something that wasn’t even close to what your communist AOC and the likes of her were inciting. US of A is on a brink of collapsing from within and some fools even think that it’s progress what they’re seeing. Time to start looking for a new global leader as USA seems hell bent on following China’s lead. What a shame.

And in this same poll... 71% Think our Democracy is under threat 74% Think social media should be held accountable for misinformation So you people know that the media is full of lies and that our Democracy is f'd, yet you're all for convicting Trump? Makes sense. Wake up, America. They only want Trump convicted because they never want him holding ANY office again because he is a threat to corruption.

Actually, that vote to convict is at least 60% and climbing.

So it is 50% convict to 45% not convict. According to a Quinnipiac poll with a ambiguous sample of 1000 people. Ignoring that the numbers are not too far apart, and we do not have mob justice for a reason, people should not be accepting any single poll without a serious degree of skepticism. For example, here is a Rasmussen poll from a few days ago that got the exact opposite results, so do you pick one poll over the other or trust neither on its own?

Quinnipac is a joke, this was such nonsense I looked them up. All of the polling is laughable, apparently 59% of americans don't think Trump should be allowed to hold future office yet he won 47% of the popular vote...

Anyone else notices is sharp decline in the pro Trump level of activity here on News voice? What's the matter Russian trolls? those payments aren't coming through as generously as they used to be? A lot of money time and effort was invested into getting Americans angry at each other. Now we must throw the book at the useful idiohts and remember that most of those vitriol spewing shihtstorm generators were likely translating their vitriol from Russian. Isn't that the truth? Viktor?

Why participate in a dysfunctional democracy of two tribes and a narrative-lead, uninformed middle? Of course Right-leaning people would lower activity if their opinions and speech get them suspended from public platforms and harassed by the leftist thought police.

If the blatant lies fit, you must convict. God knows the defendant has numerously shot himself in the foot with his own Twitter account...

first of all, it's one poll. second of all, anyone could make a staristic say whatever they want. the questions they ask are usually leading people to say the wrong thing. third of all, the media doesn't report the truth, they are propaganda machines, so the general population that is woefully unaware of facts believe whatever they say, so they are ignorant of the truth. the truth is, that in context, Trump did NOT incite a riot. and there is NO CONSTITUTIONAL BASIS FOF INPEACHING SONEONE WHO ISN'T IN OFFICE. impeachment is for the sole purpose of removing someone from office. there is no civil or criminal trial. this is your leftist government doing everything it can to destroy our Constitution.

Really need an overwhelming majority. Just because it's a little over 50 percent does not mean it should happen.

Polls don't reflect reality. They reflect perception. If you ran a huge ad campaign called "The square root of 14 is 3.5"and ran it for a month on all media, then did a poll asking for the square root of 14, a huge majority would answer 3.5 despite the fact that the square root of 14 is 3.741657... Perception is not reality... But it's useful in shaping reality.

Trump “incited” the violence 🥵🥵. Trust me! I’ll never provide proof! Just trust me and convict him!!

If you want to impeach this guy, you must think he is STILL the president. Read the constitution already! There are no provisions to impeach a regular citizen or even a past president.

They didn’t ask me, I wonder where “half” of America was to answer these questions. I’m certain they didn’t ask a single person in my local community. Pools like these are ridiculous and just made to be propaganda

Go on and lie to us. We don't believe in your biased media BS to begin with. Example: UT Austin believes that open carry is meant for sex toys, while ago many others reference the Constitution of the United States. Big difference in who you ask, where.....
