Yoo Myung-hee, South Korea’s trade minister, has pulled out of the race to become the next director general of the World Trade Organization. The WTO announced in October that Yoo and Nigeria’s finance minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, were the final two candidates for its top post, ensuring a woman WTO director general for the first time. Now, Okonjo-Iweala will likely get the post.
