Minimum wage hike might have to be rejected from COVID relief bill, says Biden

Through an interview on Friday, President Biden revealed that the minimum wage hike which was included in his $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief package, might have to be rejected. He cited the US Senate rules and stated, ’I don’t think it’s going to survive.’ He reassured that he will work towards the increment of the same, however, it does not have to be a ’one-shot hike from $7.25 to $15.’

I've never met a person who has tried to start a business or owned one in favour of a minimum wage and please spare me the oh they deserve to make a living argument as if business owners and startups are all greedy morons. You want more money prove you are worth more. Otherwise the whole concept is just entitlement. Think you can do it better start up your own and let's see how long before you realise it's a silly idea founded in laziness, entitlement and victimhood mentality.

Look around the world and most western countries already have similar amount minimum wages. People deserve to be able to live decently.

$15/hour isn’t even a living wage, once all the taxes and social security is taken out. I don’t see why everyone thinks this is a good idea. Call it what it is: a scheme to milk votes.

Even if you believe in minimum wage, different parts of the country have different costs of living, thus a federal minimum wage doesn't make sense.

Of course its rejected. Bidens and the Dems handlers, aka plutocrats and swamp- dont want it that high if they can help he shows that he made the good try but that darn Congress would not do it. Meanwhile millions of illegals are being allowed in and millions more on work visas. Say goodby to middle class prosperity and wage growth for next 20 years or so if these folks stay in power.

We needed $15 ten years ago to match cost of living. It should be its own bill. Get to work senate. This is one of your jobs. Maybe this time, for once, you can do the right thing and include a provision to endure that the minimum wage KEEPS rising, regardless of who is in the senate. The minimum wage needs to stop being raised based on the random chance of the correct politicians being in charge. If you want to end the welfare state stop paying workers wages that make welfare a requirement for survival.

The fry guy can't and shouldn't get 15 bucks an hour. If he dose now he makes what assistant manager makes so now he has to get the same raise now he makes as much as the manager now he gets a raise now he makes as much as the regional manager now he gets a raise now the price of everything goes way up so now I'm paying for all these ppl to make way to much money and also mass lay offs and hours cut to boot

I get that wages need to increase but a package meant to aid in a pandemic is absolutely the worst place to shove it.

If you can’t pay workers a decent wage, you shouldn’t have a business. Easy as pi.

Minimum wage should not be a living wage, it’s a starter wage. It’s usually for the first several months of your first job when you’re not finished with high school. We have programs to help people who can’t support themselves or their family; we don’t need to pay minors living with their parents as if they need to support a family.
