Pope Francis appoints first woman to synod post

On Saturday, Frenchwoman Nathalie Becquart, became one of the two women to be appointed as an undersecretary of the synod of bishops, for the first time. Pope Francis’ move, however, was supported by the people of the synod. ’With the nomination of Sister Nathalie Becquart and her possibility of participating in voting, a door has opened,’ said Mario Grech, the secretary-general of the synod.
