Trump shifted campaign donor funds into private business, report finds

Former President Trump funneled thousands of dollars from his donors into his private business after his loss in the election. According to Forbes, based on campaign finance reports submitted to the Federal Election Commission, Trump’s reelection campaign moved roughly $2.8M from donors into the Trump Organization over his term, including $81,000 since his loss in the election

FEC approved!: This says that Trump disclosed each payment in his FEC filings, which would say what organizations and for what. Since the article doesn’t give the reasons and organizations, and the FEC has no issues they are clearly either campaign organizations or to pay expenses like hotel bills and catering for events.

Great now we have a way to keep talking about Trump for a while.. As long as its not talking about the Biden family's sketchy money stuff.

I remember when the NYT was a newspaper of some respect, alas today they are competition only for the National Enquirer or best served as a bird cage liner... “Mr. Trump “moved” money into his hotels!!” Read: paid legitimate expenses allowed by the FEC. “Mr. Trump made sure his friends like Giuliani got their cut!” Read: paid for services rendered allowed by the FEC. “Mr. Trump has a war chest for future campaigns! What will that money really be use for...” Read: he might do other things with it in the future that we have no evidence of now, but we will structure the sentence to make it sound as tho President Trump is up to something illegal. None of what these two works of fantasy states is illegal, they just tried to explain them that way. So if you’re one of those dancing through the comment section accusing President Trump of “grifting” you could be forgiven for you ignorance, but the New York Times knows better.

Grifters gonna grift: “Former President Donald J. Trump and the Republican Party leveraged false claims of voter fraud and promises to overturn the election to raise more than a quarter-billion dollars in November and December as hundreds of thousands of trusting supporters listened and opened their wallets.” “But the Trump campaign spent only a tiny fraction of its haul on lawyers and other legal bills related to those claims. Instead, Mr. Trump and the G.O.P. stored away much of the money — $175 million or so — even as they continued to issue breathless, aggressive and often misleading appeals for cash that promised it would help with recounts, the rooting out of election fraud and even the Republican candidates’ chances in the two Senate runoff races in Georgia.” “What fraction of the money Mr. Trump did spend after the election was plowed mostly into a public-relations campaign and to keep his perpetual fund-raising machine whirring, with nearly $50 million going toward online advertising, text-message outreach and a small television ad campaign.” “Only about $10 million spent by Mr. Trump’s campaign went to actual legal costs, according to an analysis of new Federal Election Commission filings from Nov. 4 through the end of the year.” “Sophisticated donors are not dumb,” said Dan Eberhart, a major Republican donor who has supported Mr. Trump in the past. “They could see through what Trump was trying to do.” “A spokesman for Mr. Trump did not respond to a request for comment.” Trump knew he lost but kept the political theater going in order to swindle his followers for money. Money he did not use for what he said he was going to. Even he was smart enough and had enough common sense to know he lost fair and square and chose not to use the funds to seriously challenge the results. He took advantage of the naivety of his supporters to squeeze more money out of their pockets on least time as president. How very sad. I just finished reading about the young man who foolishly attempted to film a fake robbery with a butcher knife and got shot because of it. Then this article happens to be next in queue and it demonstrates the foolishness of trump sychophants who willingly bought his lies of election fraud and donated to him. Guess it proves a fool is easily separated from his money.

If Trump is a billionaire why would he car about a few thousand or millions? It’s likely something that’s legal and we aren’t getting the full context of the payments

The people that write these articles, have no idea that Trump supporters are okay with Trump creating a company with those funds. They're trying to make it look like he's misappropriating money for personal gain. He's just going to create another company that's going to create problems for the establishment. We will always give money to fund efforts like this!

This no shocker the shocker would've been if tRump had actually done the right thing for a change. Of course, as per his history, that will never happen. But hey he gotta have some kind of income now that his businesses are tanking. Lol.

Surely this is no surprise. What is amazing is the number of people who still don’t see this lifelong grifter for what he really is. This is what con men do. In private life this “successful” business tycoon left vendors and contractors on the hook for millions. He is a fraud.

Figures. Trump is small time unlike my boy Hunter. Mr. Big funneled tens of millions of dollars from Mrs. Moscow, Chinatown and such into his and his father's bank accounts. The fleecing continues... It's traditional

No not the BANKRUPT morally and financially Donald!? I COULD never believe that the shifty Trump, would shift funds into a private business, out of the donations of the MEGA idiohts. And yes I know MAGA is not spelled that way, it's a double entendre, deal with it. I ALSO LIKE TO SPELL "RHINO" , THIS WAY INTENTIONALLY

Some of his cos may have provided services to campaign. Perfectly legal. And much worse is done by various Dems every day including Biden clan. Where is media outrage and investigations there? Just another trope to try and diminish Trump. Wont work.

Trump will be president forever, even we he’s not. Why, because the media’s entire business model is based on him.
