Australian journalist Cheng Lei arrested in China after six months’ detention

Chinese authorities have formally arrested the detained Australian citizen Cheng Lei ’on suspicion of illegally supplying state secrets overseas’. Cheng, a TV presenter for Chinese state media outlet CGTN, was detained in August as she suddenly disappeared from television and couldn’t be contacted by friends, relatives. Her arrest comes amid worsening diplomatic ties between Canberra and Beijing
