Oil prices climb back to pre-pandemic levels

Brent crude oil prices have returned to $60 a barrel for the first time since January last year, rising more than 59% since November when costs stood at $39. West Texas Intermediate, the benchmark for US oil, meanwhile, last week rose above $55 a barrel for the first time in over a year. Analysts cited several reasons including an expected $1.9trn US stimulus for the recent surge in prices.
