Britain’s largest private employer Tesco is at the forefront of the call for a 1% UK sales tax aimed at online shopping giants such as Amazon. The proposed sales tax is also backed by 18 other supermarkets, retail property holders, & high street chains across Great Britain. Amazon has announced that UK sales rose by 51% to £19.3 billion in 2020 thanks to, at least in part, the COVID-19 pandemic.
Or why don't tesco try to compete instead of throwing a tantrum and running to the government. Amazon is giving big supermarkets a taste of their own medicine after what they did to small, local businesses.
