Myanmar’s junta imposes curfews, bans gatherings as anti-coup protests swell

Myanmar’s new military rulers banned public gatherings in the capital, Naypidaw, and in its two biggest cities, Yangon and Mandalay, as anti-coup protests continued to grow. Police had to use water cannons to control protesters in Naypidaw. Demonstrations were also held in many other places across the country calling for the military to hand back power to the democratically elected government.
