Tesla buys $1.5bn in bitcoin, may accept the cryptocurrency as payment in future

Tesla announced that it bought $1.5 billion worth of bitcoin, adding that it will also ’begin accepting bitcoin as a form of payment for our products in the near future.’ The firm said it bought the bitcoin for ’more flexibility to further diversify and maximize returns on our cash’. Well this should make it interesting for regulators to control Bitcoin..

This is cool, but also extremely annoying. Most of the value of cryptocurrency is in that it isn't supposed to be as controlled and regulated as the US dollar (or any other government backed currency for that matter.) If major companies start buying it up, it'll just become another tool for the elite to control the market. Once again, the poor are being screwed. I'd advise people to avoid bitcoin now, but then again there is a lot of profit there to be made for investors still, so do what you want.
