After initially refusing, Tokyo Olympics chief to resign over sexist comment
Yoshiro Mori, head of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics organizing panel, will resign after an outrage over his sexist comments last week. Mori, who is a former Japanese prime minister, had initially expressed regrets for his remarks, but refused to resign. He had said ’women talk too much to outdo each other and drag meetings.’ The IOC condemned Mori and hundreds of Games volunteers quit over his comment.

He didn't have to step down, but yes his comments were very inapropriate, especially considering he is essentially slandering his colleagues. The idiota defending his words are either extremely up their own ass or just plain sexist.
