A 95-year-old resident of an assisted living facility in Colorado is accused of shooting and killing a maintenance worker. Okey Payne has been charged with first-degree murder. Police have said Payne shot Ricardo Medina-Rojas on Feb. 3 after confronting him about $200 he claimed Medina-Rojas had stolen. Payne alleges that workers at the Legacy Assisted Living had been stealing from him since 2019.
Older people who have a dementia affliction often feel people are stealing from them, a phenomenon I have witnessed firsthand. Their delusions can take many forms, like someone is trying to steal their homes, or imaginary people invading their homes. It is not unusual. I hope this is the case, because if he isn’t compromised that would surely be a tragedy.
I'm pretty sure the guy was a thief and his evil ways caught up to him. Okey is Okay what are you going to give him life in prison at 95.
Surprise he hit him with those wonky eyes.
Let me guess pro2Aers, the gun leveled the playing field.
Guess he going to get life in prison.
Glad to see the old folks fighting back, usually some awful story of elder abuse.
HOW did this assisted living resident get a gun?????
