Three Cubans trapped in deserted Bahamas island survive 33 days on rats, conchs

Three Cuban nationals – two men and a woman – survived for 33 days eating rats, conchs and coconuts in a deserted Bahamian island before being rescued by the US Coast Guard. A USCG plane on a routine patrol spotted the three castaways when they saw some unusual flags. When they took a closer look, they found the trio signaling for help. The trio got trapped in the island after their boat capsized.

That's pretty impressive! Makes you wonder though... two men, one woman, 33 days alone with no promise of survival... I bet they all respected eachother and nothing bad really happened!

Why did they bring them here? The island is Bahamian, not US territory. The USCG has no authority to take people from another country. They should have informed the Bahamian authorities and let them deal with it.

Well I'm sure coconut fed organic rat is much better than NYC rat. Communist cuba doesn't allow for much meat in any case. It's probably the most they had every.

I could use a Bahamas vacation with rat BBQ. Sounds exotic.
