BNY Mellon, America’s oldest bank, to offer bitcoin services

The Bank of New York Mellon, which is the oldest bank in the US, said it will begin financing bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Roman Regelman, the bank’s digital head, said the BNY Mellon will be the first global bank to provide an integrated service for digital assets. The news pushed BNY Mellon shares up by 2% in premarket trading. Bitcoin was trading at around $48,250 at 8.30am in New York.

If you deposit your cryptocurrencies in an account controlled by a major bank then you deserve to have it confiscated. The point is to have an asset that is beyond government control, untaxable and beyond borders. Once the big banks start allowing you to deposit them they will gain the right to freeze or transfer it at the behest of a given government.
