The House Financial Services Committee will investigate Redditor and YouTuber Keith ’Roaring Kitty’ Gill for unduly influencing the drastic increase in Gamestop’s share value. Gill, a leading figure in the campaign, shared videos and tweets promoting the stock. He stands to make $48mil from his $53k investment. Reddit & trading app Robinhood are also under scrutiny; a hearing is set for Feb. 18.
A random youtuber is investigated, but not Pelosi who bought a million dollar in Tesla stock just before government vehicles are manfated to be electric. I see.
How about you hit the short sellers while you are at it. Or those that go on the stocks and business news programs to to talk about how a certain stock is about to crash and then turn around and buy that same stock while the price is down and vice-versa. I guess that's okay.
And? What he did is not illegal. The big firms bet the stock would lose. He bet they would win. He was right. They collude on stock futures all the time and no one investigates them. I guess it's only illegal if the common folk get rich off of it.
If they do ANYTHING against him, there will be a massive uproar and it won't be one so easily quelled
They did nothing wrong why don't you investigate the Hedgefunders who have been gaming the system for a long time and ruining the lives of working people
Let me get this straight.... A bunch of redditors did something to bring to light the immoral and economically damaging actions of hedge funds. Everyone acknowledges the evil of hedge funds, then proceed to punish the heroes of this story for the sake of the billionaire tyrants that having been doing the misdeeds all along? No one wants to hold the bad guys accountable? Only the little guy that did it in the interest of uncovering corruption?
Remember it’s only a problem, if a little guy does it! Politicians have all came together for that one epiphany. Because Wall Street been doing this for decades and I see little to no reaction from the gov lmao.
Didn't American media and blue checkmarks accuse WallstreetBets and this boyo effectively of being "white supremacists" "far right" "alt right" "Trumpist" "Racist" "Fascist" and all the other meme terms usually strewn about by bottom barrel intellects in USA, including "GamerGate"? Ah I laughed my sides off at the label wars with this particular event.
Boo hoo. If the hedge funds can manipulate outside the rules, we diamond hand **tards get to, too. If we don't get to, they need to stop as well. Period.
And not one investigation into the general practice of shorting. That hedge fund took it's chances, they deserve to be out that money if we allow short selling. You shouldn't be allowed to sell things that you are borrowing.
How is this any different from what Wall Street does every single goddamn day
So its okay wheb politicians do this literally on a regular basis but as soon as the small guys figure it out then it's wrong. Yet we wanna riot over civil rights issues that have long been taken care of.
Why is it a scandal? They legally purchased stocks from a publicly traded company. When the elites lose, its a scandal. When we lose, that's life.
So are they going to investigate Wall Street for doing the exact same thing?
So only Trump can benefit from dirextly influencing the stock market with that trade war? Dude would make claims....wait for stock prices to drop....buy stock...then wait for people to get hip to the fact that he wasnt going to do what he said....BOOM....stocks go up. Trump did that more times than I have fingers AND toes during his time in office....but that's cool?
The House Finance Committee is headed by an elderly gorilla.
Gotta make sure the rabble can't use the same tricks the upper classes uses it seems.
"Scandal" it's only a scandal when the rich lose money I guess.
He is being investigated for presenting his research to Reddit and showing his options trade results? Wow.
You vote for Biden you get crony corporatism. Enjoy the fruits of your stüpïdïty.
