Sen. Burr censured by North Carolina GOP over Trump conviction vote

The North Carolina GOP central committee voted Monday to censure Sen. Richard Burr for his vote to convict former President Trump during the second impeachment trial. In a statement released after the vote, the committee members said the unanimous vote was aimed at punishing Burr. Reacting to the move, Burr said it was ’truly a sad day for North Carolina Republicans.’

Politicians need to remember that they are put there to represent the interests of their constituents, not their own.

North Carolina Republicans showing their true colors! I’ve know many people who have moved away from that state over the years, this just proves them right in their actions! I’m sure there are some good people in Nirth Carolina, but they ain’t Republican! No morals! No honor!

What exactly does censuring do? Just removes them from committee seats right? I dont get it... let's forget about orange man and do actual politicking instead of this political theater which isnt even real enough to feel like more than an elementary school Shakespeare play.

All you Republicans who attacked the capital who think you got away with this coup think again. You will be hunted down like the animals that you are prosecuted. Actually they should line you up along with tyrant trump and executed. And for those any government punk militias if you think democrats are afraid of you. Why don't you bring it to New York city tough guy.

Hey slevin the only one who was put there to represent the racist interests of their constituents was trump.

Burr was right. The others are a case of politics over people.

What's truly sad is that partisan politics means more to the GOP than the treasonous actions of a President who happened to be a Republican.

Burr already announced awhile ago he's retiring in 2022. Lol.

A Senator receiving punishment for representing his own interests, rather than that of the people he serves. I don’t see a problem with this.
