With ’pay for news’ law looming, Google inks deals with Australia media giants

Google, which has been in a spat with Australia over a proposed law that would make tech platforms pay media outlets for linking their content, has signed deals with two top media groups in the country – Seven West and Nine. The deals are worth around AU $30 million (US $23 million) a year each. At one point in the tussle, Google threatened to pull its search out of Australia over the law.
