China assailed Canada’s move as ’despicable and hypocritical’ after Ottawa signed a declaration along with 57 other nations denouncing the arbitrary detention of foreign citizens. Canada-China ties hit rock bottom after Beijing detained two Canadian citizens – Michael Kovrig and Michael Spavor – in an apparent retaliation against Canada’s detention of Huawei CFO Meng Wanzhou on a US warrant.
Where are the sanctions? Where are the trade embargoes? Why doesn't Canada care about it's citizens?
The snapping turtle bully is back at it again.
Seeing as China still feels Canada should breach its international obligations and release Meng, perhaps her "house arrest" in a luxurious Vancouver home should be rescinded and, instead, she should be housed in a 6x9 cell somewhere up north, in the cold, with no outside communication and minimal access to her lawyers and consular officials - just like China has provided to the two Canadians they are illegally holding.
