Jason Ravnsborg, South Dakota’s Republican attorney general, has been charged with three misdemeanors for hitting and killing a man with his car last summer. Ravnsborg, who avoided serious felony charges, could face up to 30 days in jail and up to a $500 fine on each charge. Relatives of the victim said they were disappointed but not surprised that Ravnsborg was only facing misdemeanor charges.
No information on the blood alcohol of the guy whose truck was in a ditch and he was walking in a roadway at night. Why?
I remember reading about this when it came out. The driver was sober, and the pedestrian was walking on a roadway late at night. The driver even examined the roadway just moments after the collision. I'm not trying to poopoo the victim but common sense dictates that non-motorized traffic should not be mingling with motorized traffic.
I guess it helps when you are the boss. Why is he still in his job?
I am a bit surprised he got a misdemeanor, as even the argument of negligence seems rather weak.
