The entire board of a Northern California school board resigned Friday after reports emerged that they made mocking comments about parents during a public video meeting about reopening schools. A video of the meeting showed board members of Oakley Union Elementary School District complaining about parents wanting teachers to return. A member was heard saying parents ’want their babysitters back.’
While I despise the public school system, why are people shocked at this? You think employees at ANY company dont talk sh*t about the customers? You think parents dont say anything bad behind teachers backs? Stop being offended by literally everything.
literally had a teacher once tell my class "report me for whatever you want my union will fight that for me and I'll be back here in a week" teachers really dont deserve more than what they get.
But that IS how we treat teachers. We pay them about the same too. And our reopening plan is apparently so poorly oriented toward protecting teachers and students that many teachers are quitting. Maybe parents shouldn't have more kids than they can directly manage.
Well, kudos for the board members for owning their mistake. It’s a lot more than most people would do. I hope the district can find better replacements.
Okay, this is bull. Parents are acting like entitled little shit's, expecting someone to risk their life to babysit their snotnosed kid, for, what, $40k a year unvaccinated? Yeah, fuck that. Maybe if the parents didn't vote GOP we wouldn't be in this position.
Not sure they should have resigned. Maybe an apology for being disrespectful but if they truly feel this way, what does that say about parenting in today’s time? I was taught to respect teachers and I’m not excusing bad behavior by a teacher bc there are bad ones too but all resigned? They all felt that way? Seems like a bigger issue.
I can't believe that the lefty chuds actually believe that they are the party of science.
Teachers are irrelevant. It's time to return to single-income families, with one parent teaching the kids. UBI would help make this possible. Neighborhoods could cooperate together on teaching their kids. We could reduce property taxes. But we have to have standardized tests available, so that employers and colleges could have some idea what the kids learned, relative to each other.
Watch your own kids till we are all vaccinated and stop being whiney B!+@hes! I'm so sick of the argument.
In Japan, where we've been having in person classes all year, not a single child has died from corona. Kids just aren't at risk, and it means teachers are at very low risk too. I've been in the same room every day with 200 different students. 40 different students for every 45 minutes. None of the teachers in my school have gotten corona, and the only time a child was absent for corona was when their grandparent had it so they had to stay home for two weeks. He came back and we continued without any problems. "Teachers" phh. A teacher would care about their students' education enough to have done rationality.
We've been doing in person schooling here in Japan for a year now. Cases are not spreading through the school. I've had a single student in my 800 student school be out for covid. His grandfather caught it and so he was not allowed in school for two weeks. He then came back without a problem. Kids are not at risk, and neither are teachers. These teachers should be replaced due to their inability to reason.
The principle of unions is a very good thing, an important aspect of American work. However, something needs to be done to put teachers unions and police unions in check. I'm not an expert but I'm sure something can be done there.
This just seems like the script is flipped. I find it odd that the school board resigned for what is ultimately a decision for teachers to make on returning to classrooms
One down.....next up, Chicago!
Umm they were right to mock those parents
This all fits in with the dumbing of my America just like the liberals wants
This is good news!
If there were ever a school system that deserves incidents....
There's a reason I am looking into private schooling for my son.
The worst and most disgusting is teacher unions. You have a 9 month job and get paid for 12 months plus vacation days. These leftist barely teach the kids anything on the subject at hand but instead force feed liberal propaganda down the kids throat. Maybe we should just automate the teachers that teach exactly the class nothing else. Home schooling without teachers is the absolute best way.
