Malcolm X family demands reopening of murder investigation

The daughters of US black civil rights leader Malcolm X have requested that their father’s murder probe be reopened in light of a letter they found claiming that NYPD and FBI were behind the killing. The letter, written by a cop, alleged that he was tasked to ensure Malcolm’s security team was arrested before the leader was shot so that he remained without door security on the day of the shooting.

Malcolm X was a horrible individual who only sought an eye for an eye... an endless cycle of violence... This is NOT to say he deserved to be murdered but it is to say atleast race relations were not set back 100 years... (looking at you black panthers)

Non-American here, so please forgive my ignorance... But wasn't Malcolm X just a black muslim version of David Duke? I thought he believed in racial supremacy, wanted racial segregation, and advocated the use of violence to achieve his goals... Just like David Duke.

A proud black man that bowed to no one, refused to let softies take over his movement, and openly stated that white liberals were the true enemy of the black man. Of course the FBI is involved.

Malcolm X was killed by a member of the Nation of Islam because he left that cult.

Admittedly, Malcolm X was a black separatist whose perspective of race relations was formed by his experience in America. When he joined the Nation of Islam he thought all Muslims were black because that was his experience. When making the Hajj to Mecca, for the first time he saw Muslims weren't just black people but a rainbow of colors. He came back with a different attitude and a spirit of integration. That is why he left the Nation of Islam, he was a thinking man. The Nation of Islam couldn't handle him turning against them. X began leaving about unity among the races. I would have liked to have seen what he would have accomplished with his new perspective, Farrakan's jealousy prevented it from happening. People are nuanced and grow, although it is easier to further your narrative by painting then one dimensional.

I understand that Malcolm X was a black supremacist therefore not a positive figure, however if the police assisted in his murder that is still very wrong. I think everyone should oppose the police using unlawful tools to get rid of people, regardless who that person is. There should be an investigation about this.

Probably should have a talk with Farrakhan about that then, since there have been indications over the years that he had a hand in it.

FBI and police will look into it about as deep as they'll look into Tupacs death.
