Mount Etna lights up night sky with 1.5km-tall lava fountain

Mount Etna, which is Europe’s most active volcano, produced one of the most spectacular eruptions in decades when it spew a 1.5-kilometer-tall lava fountain in the Monday night sky of Catania, Italy. Scientists said it was among the normal activities of the more than 3,300-meter-high volcano. Although such tall eruptions are uncommon, the current one posed no threat to residents, as of now.
