Germany convicts former Assad regime agent in historic verdict

A court in Germany has found a former Syrian regime official guilty of being an accomplice to crimes against humanity. Eyad al-Gharib was a former colonel in the Syrian intelligence service, and carried out orders in one of Bashar al-Assad’s prisons. Gharib, who defected in 2012, was found to have helped arrest at least 30 protesters and deliver them to al-Khatib detention center in Damascus.

Obama Era policies back at work. Obama funded and aided extreme terrorism is syria to destabilize the country which indirectly led to the rise of isis. Here comes all the trolls ro call me a Russian when they can't even place syria on a map.

I worry this will discourage defectors in the future. Why will the next person want to defect and help end regimes like that if they know that they will be charged?
