Federal judge extends block on Biden deportation halt indefinitely

A federal judge ruled that a stay on President Joe Biden’s 100-day moratorium on deportations will remain in effect after previously blocking it temporarily. Judge Drew Tipton of the Southern District of Texas, a Trump appointee, delivered the blow to one of Biden’s first actions on immigration after assuming the presidency. The ruling will apply nationwide while the case proceeds.

Just because it was a campaign promise, doesn’t mean you can just write an executive order to keep your promise.

The state of Texas showed clear financial harm to be caused by a policy of allowing criminal violation of our borders. Their social service, law enforcement and detention costs go up when the federal government refuses to follow the law.

I love how the media has to explicitly specify he was appointed by Trump, seemingly implying this is still Trump’s fault. Even without social media, Trump getting all the attention. Lmao

Some common sense at last and it has to come from a trump judge think that tells you everything you need to know

So why are republicans screaming about the "tyranny" of executive actions if a mere federal judge, not even a scotus judge, can just say "NOPE"? And further, why did ANY of Trump's executive actions get past "activist" judges? Could it be... That the left is LESS tyrannical and LESS fascistic than the right?

There's very little benefit of Texas staying in the union these days. I'm surprised they don't have a larger succession movement.

As a Texan, good. The main reason our government calls on the National Guard is because not doing that leas to the citizenry solving the problems themselves. As enthusiastic as the citizenry can be in this, they also tend to be a bit messy and extremely violent. Telling Texas that they're no longer allowed to enforce the law would likely spark our next war for independence. We literally only joined the union for protection from Mexico and statehood. We had to fight a second war for the latter after the US failed to keep up their end of the bargain, so don't think we won't do it again if the US stops on the former.

Genuine asylum seekers should be helped. But this is just a land invasion of economic migrants. It makes me feel for the true refugees that are in danger and get delayed because of these waves.

Try to deport 100k a day. would be even better a cool million a day but I'd take even 10k a day everyday.
