The US FCC announced the winners of an $81 billion auction for the license for the 280 megahertz of spectrum, known as ’goldilocks band,’ as it well-suited for 5G networks. Through its subsidiary, Cellco Partnership, Verizon it spent nearly $45.5 billion in the auction. AT&T, through AT&T Spectrum Frontiers, bid $23.4 billion. The third-highest spender was T-Mobile, which spent $9.3 million.
