India, Pakistan agree to stop firing across disputed Kashmir border

India and Pakistan have agreed to end hostilities along the disputed border, also called line of control or LoC, in Kashmir and seek to address each other’s core issues. This comes after a rare phone call between the directors general of military operations of the two countries. Cross-border shelling regularly killed soldiers from both sides and displaced thousands of people living near the LoC.
