Progressive Dems demand filibuster get scrapped in $15 minimum wage fight

Progressive Democrats have renewed their demand to kill the Senate filibuster after their efforts to include a $15-an-hour minimum-wage increase in the coronavirus relief bill were dealt a blow. Elizabeth MacDonough had determined that raising the pay floor from $7.25 an hour is not compliant with budget reconciliation rules. Left wing Democrats have been pushing this policy for more than a decade

Minimum wage jobs are not meant to support a family.

When wages stagnate, it hurts everyone up the line. Don't be a boomer, understand that we cannot afford to work out way through college anymore, the jobs that we get aren't paying off our loans even when we are making 10-15 dollars an hour. The degrees we get aren't getting us career jobs. Refusing to raise the minimum wage is killing the upward mobility of the bottom earners.

Filibuster is not in the constitution and do you wanna guess what the first uses of the filibuster were for? No surprise really, racist white southern Senators upholding slavery and later used against civil rights legislation. Scrap this garbage.

For those who seem to have lapped up the Republican talking point of "minimum wage isn't meant to be a living wage" Roosevelt literally said “no business which depends for existence on paying less than living wages to its workers has any right to continue in this country. By ‘business’ I mean the whole of commerce as well as the whole of industry; by workers I mean all workers, the white collar class as well as the men in overalls; and by living wages I mean more than a bare subsistence level — I mean the wages of decent living,”
