Boston Public Schools suspend new advanced learning classes over ’inequities’

An advanced program for high-performing students at Boston Public Schools has been suspended after district officials determined the program would not promote anti-racism due to the disproportionate number of Asian and white students. 70% of students in the program were white and Asian, while nearly 80% of all Boston public schools are Hispanic and black.

Since when was skin color a requirement for Advanced Classes? Its amazing the people we call 'educators' these days. Propagandists would be a more accurate term.

They stole this plot from Harrison Bergeron. These smart kids are who will invent the next fusion reactor and cancer treatment. It is obvious that it is imperative for everyone that we nurture our brightest. We must not bring everyone down to the lowest common denominator. That is evil. That will kill us all. THAT IS EVIL. This is terrifying and dystopian. We must take action.

Copernicus, Newton, Tesla, Marconi, Ford, Edison, Einstein... All had "white privilege". We should eliminate anything that is derived from their work and innovation.

If you are "disturbed" by the number of people of a certain race in an advanced learning program the you are a racist.

Inequity. Smart. Hard working. Beneficial to MAN KIND instead of pandering to confused and inadequate people who have no moral aptitude. Well that seems to make sense. 3rd world country any one?

My god this is bad, getting rid of these programs will only make things work. Also I'll bet most those black students are in poor neighborhoods that have poorly maintained schools.

Equity and inclusion in the classroom means teach to the low performers. In the past it meant teach to the middle. Now high performers are told to go to private schools and the middle performers well they get looped in with the low performers.

Misleading. "New students will be admitted in the fourth grade by standards to be determined at the school level, according to a BPS spokesman. There will be no new students admitted in the fifth or sixth grades, the spokesman said, but those already in advanced work will be allowed to continue."

What they need to figure out is why there's such a low number enrolling considering how many students are invited "The program was open to all students in the Boston Public Schools who took a test known as Terra Nova in the third grade and received a high score. Those students were placed in a lottery conducted by the central administration office, and lottery winners received letters inviting them to apply to the program. Last fall, 453 students received invitations, 143 students applied and 116 enrolled this year, officials said."
