Garland’s AG nomination given a go-ahead by Senate Judiciary Committee

Merrick Garland’s nomination for attorney general was voted for approval by the Senate Judiciary Committee, with the vote teeing him up to be confirmed by the Senate as soon as this week. The panel voted 15-7 in favor of Garland to lead the Justice Department. The vote comes five years after Republicans blocked Garland from getting a hearing or a vote for his 2016 Supreme Court nomination.
