PlayStation Store to discontinue movie and TV purchases and rentals from August

Sony Interactive Entertainment said it will stop offering movie and TV purchases and rentals on the PlayStation Store from August 31. Vanessa Lee, head of SIE’s video division, wrote in a blogpost that the company saw a huge increase in PlayStation fans using subscription- and ad-based entertainment streaming services on their consoles – suggesting that rentals and purchases have become redundant.

Makes sense. Now they don't have to pay to license movies and can just focus on providing games. While I know there will always be people who rent movies through the service, it can't be extremely high given the many alternatives these days.

Wasn't really expecting this. Kinda sucks for those who like options for digital media purchases. Streaming is great, but hardly permanent, and physical media is expensive.
