Australia’s attorney general denies rape allegation, says won’t resign

Australia’s Attorney General Christian Porter said he is the cabinet minister accused of rape. Last week, a letter sent to Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison alleged that Porter had raped a girl, 16, in 1988, who died by suicide in 2020. Porter told reporters, ’The things that are being claimed did not happen,’ adding that he won’t resign. The police have closed their probe into the matter.

My ex claimed I abused her and wouldn't let her leave the house on the last day of our lease (after we broke up). I was arrested, my photo was posted in my community, and my reputation was screwed. She eventuality admitted that she lied about what really happened to the police. Charges were dropped. I sued her for $100,000, but I ended up only being awarded $35,000. Plenty of people believed her words about me. Posting on Facebook "I can't believe Ken would do that. What a monster!" All because a mentally unstable, jealous woman made a claim.

Good on him for standing up for his rights. Innocent until proven guilty. Gather evidence, take it to court, get a guilty verdict, THEN you can make him resign. Not before.

He has no reason to resign or stand down. Remember people, innocent till proven guilty and with the Police dropping the case because of no admissible evidence (the alleged victim had asked the Police to not persue nor did she sign a statement). The media have a lot to answer for and this (the media) has done nothing to help other victims of sexual abusers/rape.
