Russia lashed out at the new sanctions the US imposed on the country, terming the action as ’hostile,’ and vowed that Moscow will take countermeasures. Maria Zakharova, a Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman, released a statement in which she said the sanctions were an ’undisguised interference in Russia’s domestic affairs’ and Moscow ’will respond but not necessarily with symmetrical measures.’
