Cardboard VR goggle discontinued by Google

After seven years, the low-cost virtual reality viewer, the Cardboard, has been discontinued by Google. People could slide their mobile phones into a slot into the front of the viewer. This then created a makeshift VR headset for very little money. The headset, was an important piece in the story of the modern VR. But now, the $15 viewer is no longer available if checked on the Google Store.
