Ron Johnson vows to make clerks read entire Covid bill to stall it

Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisconsin) has vowed to force Senate clerks to read through the entire $1.9 trillion coronavirus relief bill, which is around 700 pages, to stall it. He has also threatened to seek a series of amendments towards this effort. He said, ’This is not a Covid relief bill. It’s a boondoggle for Democrats.’ Earlier, Johnson had peddled conspiracy theories about US Capitol riot.

I 100% that it should be done that way. While its easy to go to congress.gov and look at any bill thats submitted, few do that. Reading every bill might take longer, but wtf are we paying them for if they're not reading all of it.

As a Wisconsin resident, I just want to apologize for Ron Johnson's existence.

“The maneuver by Mr. Johnson, Republican of Wisconsin, was unlikely to change any minds about the sweeping pandemic aid plan, which would deliver hundreds of billions of dollars for vaccine distribution, schools, jobless aid, direct payments to Americans and small business relief, and has broad bipartisan support among voters. “ Another politician attempting to avoid representing the majority of his constitiuents who approve of the bill and waste time that could be used for real legislation in order to score political points. What a guy.

The Senators should be required to listen to all of it also and not being their phones or reading newspapers. Then the cultists Republicans can't complain we don't know what's in it.

Ok people. This isn't about Senators reading the bill. This is about reading the entire thing out loud on the senate floor. If you don't understand the difference then maybe you shouldn't comment.

I think a bill should be introduced to read all bills in full in the senate. If you can't sit through nthe whole reading you should not vote on it.

"Ron Johnson vows to make clerks read entire Covid bill so they don't preach on party lines and have a moment of free will instead of parroting what their overlords command." fixed it.
