Germany gives go-ahead to AstraZeneca Covid vaccine for people over 65

Germany’s Permanent Vaccine Authority has greenlighted AstraZeneca’s Covid-19 jab to people over 65, the country’s health ministry said. It said this would help speed up the country’s slow inoculation drive against the virus. The authority has also recommended extending the gap between the two doses of the AstraZeneca jab to a maximum 12 weeks, as studies showed a longer gap improved its efficacy.

I personally like Astras and JJs DNA vaccines more. I love the theory of delivering mrna through lipid nanoparticles but we just dont know long term effects yet. While they both use novel delivery methods, we have a better idea of the long term effects of the dna method. The MRNA vaccines could be the future but personally I will approach with a bit of caution. In my personal opinion I would like to see Dna vaccines used on the younger population. As if there are long term effects from MRNa vaccines, they wont leave a stain on the majority of the lifecycle of that person. We still need to test Mrna vaccines and millions are. But I personally feel if you still have 3/4ths of your life ahead of you and arent in a high risk category, just wait for the DNA vaccines. If you are older, past reproduction age or reaching the end of your life cycle and at high risk, take the new MRNA one and it will limit risk in the short term from covid and you may never have to see negative effects if they do exist. For me personally being younger, I am gonna wait until JJs DNa vaccine is available. Ones we've studied the MRNA ones more, I'll be all in.
