According to a report by the World Obesity Federation, countries with high levels of overweight people, such as the UK and the US, have the highest death rates from COVID-19. About 2.2M of the 2.5M deaths from COVID were in countries with high levels of overweight people. Talk about stating the glaringly obvious. Surely e veryone knows that having any chronic illness reduces the body's ability to defend itself from yet another threat. Obesity in its own right and by definition is a disease centuries old but never so prevalent as today! So as obesity compromises the immune system it raises the risk factor of more serious effect from another health threat and raise the risk of death. After all isn't that how the vast majority of people die worldwide barring accidents and wars? The risk of getting cancer or heart disease for example is raised through obesity just to mention a couple of internally developed diseases as well as extraneous threats of contagions and between the two see nearly everyone off this mortal coil.
