China announces major changes in Hong Kong electoral system

China has announced a major overhaul of Hong Kong’s electoral system. Wang Chen, vice chair of the country’s rubberstamp parliament – National People’s Congress, said many annexes in HK’s Basic Law – the city’s de facto constitution – would be revised. This comes amid a major crackdown on pro-democracy activists in the former UK colony after it promulgated a Beijing-drafted draconian security law.

Free Hong Kong! There are still protesters who haven't been seen since their "arrest" when thos whole thing went down! I predicted that this would happen, that the world wouldn't forget per se, but lose interest. And the Chinese government is a lot more patient than the world is attentive! We cannot let them get away with this!

For overhaul, please refer to the "Great leap forward", road of bones, the killing fields, The Holmodir etc etc. Mass starvation, authoritarian rule, destruction of personal rights and freedom. Lets take democracy for granted and invite far left insanity which to date has not created a single sucsessful society in 100 years of brutality, murder and complete state control.

We all knew they would t stick to their word. Seems nothing can be believed on what China says. No trust. No honour.

The democracy in Hongkong is slowly but steadily dismantled. They can only try to slow it down so that China's mindset changes before Chinese government take over full control of HK. Or the people in HK leave that city and show China that such a city without their highly educated citizens is not worth the invasion. I don't get it that Chinese mindset is so damn 20th century. There are more important issues than taking over a city. But the minds of these old men are all a like.

The change? There no longer is an electoral system?

Basically, the changes amount to, 'your vote doesn't count.'
